In 1868 Peter
Christian Petersen started
his match stick
factory in an
outhouse at
his home in Vestergade
629, just outside the
city.
Although Petersen
did not think that it
would be difficult to
restructurethe
production due to the new match
law, as his
production was manual, he
chose nevertheless
to stop in 1874.
The last year he
also had a job as
policeman at night watch
and was therefore
called "sulfur
stick."
Later he was promoted
to sergeant.
