Private Bank President Axel Heide had merged several of the
Danish matchstick factories as he bought Københavns
Tændstikfabrik for 400,000 kroner, Godthaabsvejs Tændstikfabrik
for 70,000 kroner since Godthaabsvej had just before this
purchased P. Rohmells machines for 10,000 kroner and
Aktietændstikfabrikken Merkur for 200,000 kroner.
On the 11th of
March Just Abildgaard from Randers , Carl Bertelsen from
Aarhus, Oscar Davidsen, Peter Justesen and Oscar West from
Copenhagen met with Axel Heide and formed a new company "
Aktieselskabet Københavns Tændstikfabrikker og
Aktietændstikfabrikken Merkur" .
Oscar West became president , while the other was part of the
Board.
Because of the surplus on the market it was decided in September
that year a production breakdown when Merkur would produce
50,000 boxes a day and Københavns Tændstikfabrik 90,000 boxes a
day, while working hours was scheduled to be from
8:00 to 16:00 .
In 1902, as it undoubtedly had always been the plan , HE
Gosch & Co.
acquired
shares in the company , after which the Københavns
Tændstikfabrik was closed and machines for the electric match
was transferred to Godthaab .
Merkur
continued as Gosch 's branch in Jutland .
