In the spring
of 1872 the two
pharmacist's Oscar Davidsen and Charles Pallesen
packed
the machines, which they had in the factory , they had
established in Malmo with the Swede JD
Andersson
and moved them to Copenhagen . Here
Pallesen had sought and received permission to operate a match
stick factory at Tagensvej No. 4.
The factory they called " Pallesen & Davidsen " .
When Carl Conrad Kjær put his machines for sale in 1874 they
bought them and moved them as well as their own to new premises
in Jagtvej 101.
At the same time they called the company " Kjøbenhavns ny
Tændstikfabrik " .
In 1875 they moved again , however, the factory , this time to
an unbuild site in Rådmandsgade 2 , where they for the amount of
17,337 kroner built a brand new 2 -storey building , which could
provide the framework for a much improved production.
The next
year the plant improved, in particular
with new drying oven in fire safe space , higher chimney , etc.
As Pallesen in autumn 1875 was seriously ill with kidney
inflammation , he had to leave the operation to Davidsen alone.
Although Pallesen died a few months later Davidsen chosed
to continue with the company name " Pallesen & Co. " , probably
out of respect for his late friend and colleague.
At the beginning of 1877 Davidsen closed factory when he
had gone into partnership with HE
Gosch and machinery and equipment was moved to hid factory
Phoenix in Jacobsgade on the island of Amager.
