1887 - 1904 Pilestræde 43
1904 - 1936 Pilestræde 50

Allready as a 19 -year-old  Caroline Marie Hansen was, after  graduating the trading school, in 1875, employeed in the merchant firm Menck & Co. Here she learned thoroughly in the trading of Menck and when the latter withdrew his younger brother in the firm in 1887  Caroline Hansen chose to start her own business in Pilestræde 43. She quickly got a good turnover which grew steadily over the next years and in 1904 she bought the property Pilestræde 50 , where she opened the shop on the ground floor and lived herself with her mother and two sisters on the other floors . At the same time  Caroline Hansen took, like his sisters Emma Cathrine and Julie Edmunda her mother's maiden name into their names.

In 1905 , she entered a 5 year contract for the supply of matches from the "De forenede Danske Tændstikfabrikker", (a Gosch company) and she was a very loyal dealer . Gosch 's president, Folmer Preisler was so pleased with Caroline Hansen that he often pleased Caroline Herding so she would continue to sell their products. She was even allowed to continue to trade with other brands as long as Gosch just had a production and price agreement with these companies , a price agreement , which at that time was not quite official .

Caroline Herding Hansen was next to her business career , a pioneer in the emerging women's movement and a natural role model for other women who were considering a career in business . She was elected auditor in a number of women's organizations and came in 1899 in the Board of the Women's Building in Copenhagen .

In 1911  her business formed model for a similar business in Frederiksberg.

In 1925 she bought along with two of her sisters a new villa at Skodsborg Strandvej , later called " Herdinghus " .

In 1936  Caroline Marie Herding Hansen choosed to close her business and she died 4 years later in her villa " Herdinghus " .
